We rent rugs! We’ve been doing rug rentals in Toronto since we opened in the west end in 2016. We rent them for film and television productions, advertising and editorial photo shoots, real estate staging, or even for special events on a case-by-case basis.

John and Miriam in front of the Haus of Mellah. We moved all operations here in November 2023, where we operate the store and our rug cleaning business in Toronto.

The best is when the big American productions straight up by the rugs—what a crazy flex. I guess that’s what you get to do as the sole superpower in an effectively unipolar world: make your own money policy, and buy Moroccan/Berber rugs for a few thousand bucks that are used for a few seconds in a TV show.

Renting a super colourful vintage Moroccan rug will really make your TV show or whatever stand out in a sea of grayscale sameness and refinement culture

The Canadian productions rent, but sometimes even they’ll buy the rugs they’ve rented, usually because someone on set falls in love with the rug, and buys it with their own money (we always deduct the rental fee from the purchase price in those cases).

Or perhaps you want to go with a newly made Moroccan rug, a beni ourain or mrirt. These light coloured rugs probably help in some way with like light and film and stuff. i really don’t know, I am a rug salesman, not a director of television and film who rents rugs here in our hometown of Toronto.

The standard rental for Toronto rug rental is usually in the 20-25% range for a week. We charge 20%/week for our Moroccan rug rentals, and we can negotiate the price for anything beyond a week. All the rugs are cleaned professionally after rental, by our very own Toronto rug cleaning company, Mellah Home and Rug Care.

So this is an example of a very beautiful Moroccan rug that maybe you’d like to rent or buy?

So there you have it. A blog post about rug rental, and I even managed to sneak something in about cleaning. This is not my usual writing voice, but I swear it’s not AI. I just haven’t written anything—about Toronto rug rental or cleaning or anything else for that matter—in a long time. I got a lot dumber and more addicted to my phone over the pandemic, and this kind of writing has been taken over by AI, so forgive me for not maintaining this blog. You, dear reader, shall see more blog posts from The Haus of Mellah, as I currently have many search engine optimization goals and I actually do like to write about hard-hitting subjects like where to find the best rug cleaning service in Toronto, who rents the best rugs in Toronto, and who is selling THE BEST vintage and contemporary Moroccan rugs in Toronto.

They’re just not the type of rugs you’re going to see everywhere…
