I am pleased to announce that for the next two months, we have an amazing selection of Moroccan rugs in a beautiful space in Old Montreal. We have partnered with élément de base and d'Armes Luminaires, two amazing companies from Montreal whom we love.
élément de base (they don't like capital letters) makes beautiful living room furniture and accessories that are of incredible quality, and are surprisingly affordable. The furniture is designed in Montreal and is renewable, meaning that you can refresh the pieces every few years with replaceable slipcovers and interchangeable table tops. The colours go incredibly well with both neutral and colourful Moroccan rugs.
d'Armes Luminaires designs and produces next level, made-in-Quebec lighting fixtures and lamps that are just insane. Read the "about us" section on their website to see how cool these dudes are that make these beautiful things. My favourite line is, "D’Armes Luminaires’ creations are inspired equally by Bauhaus and Brutalism, as well as by the New-Wave movement and the visual universe of science-fiction films from the 80’s." Their designs exceed the astronomical expectations set by the inspired copywriting on their website.
Putting all of us together is the formidable team behind Creative Flats, Annie Horth and Natalie Bouchard. Creative Flats was created in 2000 to serve a growing clientele looking for high-end furnished spaces for rent, designed and outfitted with refined amenities. Annie and Natalie are the coolest—here is a story about them: I delivered the rugs to 395 Notre Dame, where, despite the fact it was 30 degrees and humid, they both arrived resplendent in head-to-toe couture. They immediately helped me schlep all heavy rugs into the space and set up some vignettes so I could take some pictures before I headed back to Toronto. I was on a tight timeline, and was, in fact, lucky Mir let me go anywhere, because we have a month old newborn. Annie and Natalie are chic, business-savvy, hard-working and nice. They also have the best taste in Montreal for Moroccan rugs, lighting and furniture. Bisous!
